Aspiring song writers of all ages and every level of experience have a unique opportunity this month to participate in a songwriting workshop at Clayton State University.

Only 12 spots are still open for the workshop that features Shana Tucker at Spivey Hall on Saturday, Jan. 24, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Tucker is a singer-songwriter and cellist who credits her genre-bending Chamber-Soul musical combination to the influences of ’80s and ’90s pop music, movie soundtracks, and world music.

She hopes to give workshop participants the knowledge they need to express themselves through song. Tucker, who has both jazz and classical roots, will also teach basic song structure during the class.

High school students, college students and adult singer/songwriters are all welcome to register at www.spiveyhall.org/educational-programs/shana-tuckersong-writing-workshop. Registration is $10.
