Want to know more about film school? Now is the time to learn at a Clayton State University information session to be held on the Fayette campus.

Clayton State’s Film and Digital Media Center is having two free information sessions – one on Thursday, Jan. 22, and another on Saturday, Feb. 7. The Jan. 22 event will be held in Fayetteville at the LaFayette Education Center, Room Media D, 205 LaFayette Ave. It begins at 6:30 p.m.

The Feb. 7 event will be held at Clayton State’s film studio in Lucy Huie Hall, 9013 Tara Blvd., Jonesboro, and begins at 10 a.m.

The information sessions will include information on the center’s” Post Production Film Editing: Intro to Editing” course, and the “Digital Music and Video Production and Entertainment Certificate” course.

The next round of classes for the center’s Digital Film Technician Training Program begins in February 2015.

“Since our Digital Film Technician Training Program began a year ago, more productions have come to the state than were even anticipated, and the need for trained workers is now greater than ever,” said center Director Barton Bond. “Georgia has become the third-busiest state in the nation, behind California and New York, in terms of film and television production.”

Because of all the film and television production work in the area, Clayton State many Clayton State students have benefited from working on real productions that helped them build their skills and resumes.

Classes are held in the newly-renovated 10,000 square foot studio space in Jonesboro, which is one of the largest teaching studios in the world.

In addition to the technician training program, the Film and Digital Media Center offers a “Post Production Film Editing: Intro to Editing” course. The instructor for this course, Akil DuPont, will be at the information sessions. This class presumes no prior editing training or skills, but will also help develop skills in those with some experience.

Clayton State also offers the “Digital Music and Video Production and Entertainment Certificate” course. Instructor Stanley Johnson will be available to answer questions about the certificate course.
