James (“Jim”) Melville Landers, of Peachtree City, Ga., 78, born in Little Rock, Ark., passed from this earth and went to Heaven on October 19, 2014.

Jim is survived by his wife Rebecca Landers of Peachtree City, Ga., married 56 years. He is survived by his three children, Kelly Baker-Barnes and husband Craig Barnes, Colonel Kevin Landers and his wife Melody, and Brian Landers and wife Suzie; 12 grandchildren; and sister, Natalie Goss of North Little Rock, Ark. Jim’s parents were the late Mel and Edna Landers of North Little Rock, Arkansas.

Jim grew up in North Little Rock, Ark. He was a graduate of University of Central Arkansas, Conway, Ark. (formerly Arkansas State Teachers) where he was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame for his basketball achievements. He got his MBA at Harding University, Searcy, Ark.

Jim was a retired professor and school teacher in Business Education, with his MBA in Business, and retired from New York State Teacher’s Association and Arlington Christian Schools, Fairburn, Ga. He taught school 23 years on Long Island and 14 years in Georgia. Jim served various organizations in his career to include Future Business Leaders of America, deacon and elder in Church of Christ, Prison Ministry and various mission trips. He enjoyed leading congregational singing throughout his life and serving the Lord.

Funeral arrangements are at the Chapel of Carl J. Mowell & Son Funeral Home, 200 Robinson Rd., Peachtree City, Ga. 30269. Visitation is October 22, 2014, 4 p.m. – 6 p.m. and memorial service is October 23, 11 a.m.
