The Peachtree City Police Dept. conducted a cart path safety check in multiple locations on Oct. 15. With 233 citizens contacted, the Wednesday afternoon safety check was sixth check in the past eight weeks.
Department spokesperson Odilia Bergh said the Wednesday safety check was conducted by three teams at two locations each. The focus of the safety check was to verify golf carts registrations and identify underage drivers, Bergh said.
In total, 233 citizen contacted with three citations issues for underage operation of a golf cart/allowing minors to drive, said Bergh.
Six warnings were also issued during the safety check. The warnings were issued for various reasons such as failing to transfer register golf cart registration within 10 days, drivers operating the golf cart with children in their lap, cart numbers obstructed and licensed drivers in the back seat instead of front with younger drivers.
A total of 10 officers participated during the three-hour check.
Bergh said the department has conducted six safety checks in the past eight weeks.
