The Peachtree City Council on Oct. 2 will hear an annexation request that would bring the Heritage of Peachtree City personal care apartments on Ga. Highway 54 near Sumner Road into the city.

The 3.52-acre property is situated between Hwy. 54 and Sumner Road on the city’s east side. The property is zoned community commercial in unincorporated Fayette County.

Owned by HCRIX Royal LLC, the site consists of 49 personal care apartments and is accessed by a driveway off Hwy. 54.

The property is currently served by an on-site septic system that is failing and has had capacity issues for a number of years, said Senior Planner David Rast in a Sept. 25 letter.

“The applicant desires to annex the property into the city limits and then connect to the sanitary sewer line and pump station proposed adjacent to Sumner Road,” Rast said.

Rast said the applicant has stated that there are no plans for expansion or redevelopment on the property, nor are there plans to request a second entrance from Sumner Road.

The only decision that might come from the Thursday council meeting is one that would allow city staff to work with the applicant. Future approval of the request would be required by the Planning Commission and City Council at a later date.

The council will hold a workshop in Oct. 7 at 6:30 p.m. to discuss the annexation process and areas that might request annexation in the future.
