Coweta County commissioners adopted a $65 million FY 2015 general fund budget on Sept. 16 without using fund balance.

The FY 2015 budget is essentially the same as the FY 2014 budget and does not use any fund balance, said finance director Hans Wilson.

The $2.6 million increase in revenues over the $62.34 million FY 2014 budget comes mainly from a $2 million increase in property taxes and a $715,000 increase in licenses and permits.

Wilson said the increase in property taxes stems from an increase in property values and from the revaluation of the county’s commercial properties.

Sales and insurance premium taxes in projected to be essentially flat for FY 2015 at $18 million, Wilson said.

The budget will become effective on Oct. 1.
