One of the last flying Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress bombers, Sentimental Journey, will lead a squadron of vintage World War II aircraft to DeKalb-Peachtree Airport (KPDK) located in Chamblee, Ga., for the first-ever Atlanta Warbird Weekend. Hosted by the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Dixie Wing based in Peachtree City, the weekend will also feature iconic fighters from WWII, including a Goodyear FG-1 Corsair, a Supermarine Spitfire, several North American P-51 Mustangs and a very rare Douglas SBD Dauntless Navy dive bomber. Rides and cockpit tours in the B-17 and other aircraft are available for a fee; ground viewing and photo opportunities are free to the visiting public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, Sept. 27-28.
