Phil Cofer of Whitewater was named to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s AAAAA All-State first team, one of several local players ranked among the best in their respective classifications for the 2013-14 season.

Cofer averaged 19.3 points per game for the Wildcats, who finished with Region 4-AAAAA’s best record in the regular season and reached the first round of the state playoffs.

The 6-8 power forward has signed to play for the University of Tennessee.

Cassidy Williams of McIntosh was a second-team selection for the AAAAA girls team. She averaged 20.6 points for the Lady Chiefs, among the top five scoring averages statewide in AAAAA. The junior scored her 1,000th point in a region playoff game.

Two other players from Fayette – Jada Coggins of Whitewater and Katie Wilson of Starr’s Mill – were named AAAAA girls honorable mention.

The Fayette County Tigers’ Dante Sterling is an honorable mention selection on the AAAA boys team, and the Lady Tigers’ Kayla Smith received the same honor on the girls’ side.
