Providence United Methodist Church invites the community to The Marketplace this weekend. The Marketplace will be open Thursday and Friday, March 27 and 28, from 6-9 p.m. and Saturday from 4-9 p.m. Children’s Minister Cathy Fralish explains, “When you come to the Marketplace you will travel back in time to a Jerusalem-like village in biblical days where kids can do crafts, and participate in activities like real camel rides, a climbing wall, stomping grapes and a petting zoo. All crafts, activities and food are free as our gift to the community.”

In its sixth year, each Marketplace has new crafts and activities in addition to old favorites like perfume-making and olive-pressing.

“We always have a new way to travel back in time, and everyone looks forward to seeing what it will be, so we don’t give away the secret ahead of time,” Fralish said.

All ministry areas at Providence are a part of this weekend event. Providence’s senior pastor Diane Parrish says, “We’re excited to welcome the community to this free fun event for kids and families. It’s been great to see our teens and adults working together building the village and even our older children have helped to get gift bags ready for kids who come to the Marketplace.”

In case of rain, the Marketplace will be open Sunday from 4-7 p.m. Go to www.provumc.com for updated information throughout the weekend. Providence is at 592 Bernhard Road, in southern Fayette County between Ga. Highway 85 and Redwine Road.
