FAYETTE COUNTY (baseball) lost 6-1 to Lovejoy Thursday. Only one of the Lovejoy runs was earned, according to coach Frank Dixon, who said, “Every team has days when things do not click and this was ours.” Chris Jones and Jordan Coleman had the only two hits for the Tigers.

McINTOSH (girls lacrosse) won big Thursday over Columbus 19-2. Shelby Durden had a percent shooting percentage with 7 goals and 4 assists. Caitlin O’Brien had 5 goals and 1 assist. Becca Beato came in with 1 goal and 6 assists, while Tulah Blanton added with 4 goals. The team remains undefeated.

WHITEWATER (baseball) won 8-5 over McINTOSH Friday night. It was the Chiefs’ first loss of the season. The Wildcats were down by a run with two outs in the seven when Jabari Richards hit a grand slam, his second home run of the game. Brandon Bell also homered for Whitewater.

SANDY CREEK (baseball) won 12-0 Friday over Langston Hughes as Rodney Randers pitched a five-inning complete game.

LANDMARK (girls soccer) picked up a 6-2 road win Friday over Troup County to move to 2-2 on the season. The War Eagles were led by the stellar defense of Lauren Colston and the strong midfield play of Mackenzie Harris and Morgan McWilliams, who scored the opening goal of the match. Landmark added two more from freshman Allison Nigh to push the lead to 3-0. Troup scored just before the half, but Landmark dominated possession the rest of the way and Rebekah Gravitt added three goals to put the game out of reach.

LANDMARK (boys soccer) beat Troup County 3-2 Friday. The game was tied at 1 at the half. Austin Luckie scored the game winner with 22 seconds left, while Gaines Coker scored the other two goals for Landmark.

FAYETTE COUNTY (boys soccer) lost in a shootout Friday to SANDY CREEK. The match was tied 3-3 at the end of regulation and was decided 8-7 on penalty kicks. Shawn Williams scored on a PK to tie the game at 1 in the first half, and right-footed Ryan Grbac drove a left-footed shot off the ground from 25 yards out to take the lead. In the second half Diego Millesi drew the defense in and tapped the ball to Jeff Sherry to make the score 3-3.

OUR LADY OF MERCY (baseball) fell 7-2 Friday to Paideia. With the Bobcats down 7-0 in the top of the sixth, Austin Loper led off with a double and Andrew Calderara followed with a single. Loper scored several pitches later on a wild pitch and Christian Whited plated Calderara when he grounded out to short.

LANDMARK (baseball) defeated Strong Rock 6-1 Friday night behind strong pitching from junior Ben Baggett and freshman Beau Healey.

STARR’S MILL (girls lacrosse) defeated Northgate 20-4 Friday.
