Barkers head up Ladies’ Winter Conference at Heritage Baptist

Barbara Barker will be the speaker at Heritage Reformed Baptist Church’s Ladies Winter Conference Friday evening March 14 at 7 p.m. and Saturday March 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Her husband, Dr. Frank Barker, will preach at the Sunday morning service at Heritage March 16.

Barbara’s topic will be “Walking with Jesus -The Key Steps to the Christian Life.”

Barbara is the co-author of the book “Faith Pointes” which contains many stories of God’s triumphs of faith in her own life, embedded in a Bible study of critical truths of the Christian life. She is the wife of Dr. Frank M. Barker Jr., founding pastor and current pastor emeritus of the 4,000-member Briarwood Presbyterian Church in Birmingham, Ala., where he served as senior pastor for 40 years. .

Barbara was born in Birmingham and holds a degree in speech and drama from Northwestern University in Chicago, with a minor in English education, and was a pilot. She is a popular Bible teacher and Christian speaker and the co-founder of the Briarwood Ballet School. The school has an enrollment of over 500 students.

The students perform for worship services, concerts, conferences, schools and churches, among other opportunities to dance for special events. They have danced in Russia, Kazakhstan, Brazil, Spain, Korea, Japan, Ireland, Sweden and China as evangelistic arms of the evangelical churches or missions there.

Barbara teaches several Bible studies weekly and speaks for conferences and churches. She and Frank have three grown children and 12 grandchildren.

The cost is $15 which includes materials, continental breakfast and catered luncheon.
