As we celebrate our 10-year anniversary this year, we must reflect on how far we have come from our humble beginnings.
In 2004, the Fayette CARE Clinic began in a renovated house with a $2,000 grant, and one donated exam table. The Fayette CARE Clinic was founded on a simple belief that every Fayette County citizen should have access to quality healthcare.
Today that dream has become a world-class medical office facility that in 2013 served 3,434 Fayette County citizens.
Our professional, volunteer staff is able to provide patients with medical procedures, dental procedures, vision, dermatology, cardiology, gynecology, chiropractic, prescription drugs and patient education and referral services.
The Fayette CARE Clinic has always been privately funded through local charity grants and donations from businesses and citizens.
As a community-sponsored program, we must remain thankful for the dedication of our service providers, volunteers and staff.
Sheryl Watford, who serves as executive director, has led the clinic from its inception in 2004. She provides enthusiasm and vision for growth and future service needs.
We also must thank Dr. Greg Alvarez, Dr. Charles Barber, Dr. Yolanda Ward, Dr. Elizabeth Moore, Dr. Nimish Dhruva, Dr. Judith Cauvin, Dr. Steven Marcet, Dr. Nancy Barr, and the dozens more Fayette area doctors who donate their time to treat patients. Without these dedicated medical professionals we would not be able to accomplish the goals for the clinic.
Additionally, we must thank the outstanding nurses, NP’s, PA’s, dental assistants, hygienists, and lay volunteers who assist in the daily duties of a full service medical practice.
Special thanks go to Mercer University for providing interns to work in our pharmacy.
Our growing partnership with Piedmont-Fayette Hospital means we assist each other to the benefit of the patients.
Fayette CARE Clinic continues to reduce non-emergency emergency room visits while Piedmont Fayette provides our patients with lab work, mammograms, flu shots, and educational material.
Fayette CARE Clinic is now converting to EPIC, Piedmont’s electronic medical records system, which will allow our staff to have access to real time data to better serve our patients.
We especially wish to thank and congratulate the hundreds of volunteers who keep the Fayette CARE Clinic humming with clerical, accounting, and other administrative services, approaching thousands of hours in a given year. Thank you for your time and dedication to the Fayette CARE Clinic and the residents of Fayette County.
As 2014 rolls forward, we would like to add services such as: ENT, urology, nephrology, and other specialty physicians to our extensive menu of services.
We are always looking for more volunteers, especially dentists, hygienists, and dental assistants. Many of our specialists see Fayette CARE Clinic patients in their private practice.
We invite all healthcare providers, lay volunteers, and interns who would like to volunteer their services in a state-of-the-art medical office environment to come visit us at 1260 Highway 54 West suite 204, Fayetteville, Ga.
Be sure to visit our website, www.fayettecareclinic.com to volunteer, donate, intern, sponsor, or otherwise contribute.
Consider supporting us by purchasing a ticket to our annual dinner dance, scheduled for March 28.
If you are a low-income Fayette County citizen without medical insurance and in need of compassionate healthcare, come see us. God bless.
