Mary Elinore Pollock Crea King, better known as “M.E.”, passed away on January 27, 2014, under the loving care of her family at Southwest Christian Care.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Caroline Crea, her husband, Carl G. King, Sr., her grandson, Benjamin Butler King, her sister, Caroline Crea Smith and her brother, John Crea.
She is survived by her children, Carla King Jones of Ringold, Ga., Carl Gordon King, Jr. (Suzanne) of Merritt Island, Fla., John Crea King (Laurie) of Fayetteville, Ga. and Mary King Leslie (Paul) of McDonough, Ga.; 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, brothers, Jim (Dianne) Crea and Joe Crea both of Fayetteville, a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Mrs. King continued to “teach” family and friends daily even though she was retired from 37 years of teaching for the Fulton County Board of Education. She was a life-long member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in College Park, Ga., a faithful volunteer at St. John’s Bargain Shop, and a member of the Fayette-Piedmont Hospital Auxiliary. Because of her servant’s heart, it is impossible to list the contributions she has made to her church, her community and her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 1, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in College Park, Ga. with the Very Reverend Spencer Simrill, the Reverend Harold R. Bott and her son-in-law, the Reverend Paul Leslie officiating. The family will receive guests immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John’s Bargain Shop, 2823 Main Street, East Point, Ga. 30344 or Southwest Christian Care, 7225 Lester Road, Union City, Ga. 30291.
