“Shrek The Musical.”is today at Starr’s Mill High School at 7 p.m. The musical which ran on Broadway from 2008 to 2011 and was nominated for 9 Tonys faithfully recreates Dreamwork’s 2001 blockbuster “Shrek” on stage with the addition of humorous songs by the Tony-nominated composer Jeanine Tesori, whose cast recording of the show was nominated for a Grammy for best musical show album. Licensing for the show has been recently released for community theaters and Starr’s Mill will be staging the first area production of the familiar tale.

The Fayette County Public Library and the Friends of the Fayette County Public Library invite members of the community to participate in a free two-part series of seminars on how to cope with loss and go on living. Timed to offer targeted help for getting through the special challenges of the holiday season, the “Seasons of Grief” program series is presented at the library on Thursday, November 14 and Thursday, December 5, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Facilitator Danita Ogandaga is the founder of Hope Starts Today and the Orphan No More podcast. The seminar series is free and open to the public.

Hospice Advantage and the Hospice Angel Foundation presents “An Evening With Angels” to raise support for hospice patients and their families. The event  is at 6:30 p.m. at the  Flat Creek Country Club in Peachtree City. The event includes dinner, dancing to  Where’s Charlie ?, a silent auction and much more. O Christmas Tea –  The Business Woman of Fayette and Coweta  will be having their annual event benefiting Community Welcome House, a safe haven from domestic violence. The Piedmont Newnan Hospital Auxiliary is holding its 26th Candlelight Tour of Homes Friday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.  This year’s tour will be highlighting five homes in the Historic Greenville-LaGrange district in Newnan.
Proceeds from the event will be directed towards a $150,000 pledge for the establishment of a Healing Garden at Piedmont Newnan Hospital. This unique garden and water feature will be located to the right of the hospital’s front entrance with views from the chapel.  It will serve as a refuge of beauty, peace, and serenity for the community, patients, and staff. Tickets for this annual event go on sale November 8.
Tickets and information are also available from Auxiliary members or by calling the Auxiliary Office at 700-400-2380. Tickets purchased in advance are $15.  On the evening of the event, tickets may be purchased at any of the homes on tour for $20.

The downtown Christmas parade, tree lighting and carriage rides are today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Fayetteville. The 4th Annual Downtown Christmas parade begins at 5 p.m., followed by a  tree lighting. The holidays are right around the corner! The city of Newnan’s annual Christmas parade is Dec.8, beginning at 3 p.m. A major change has been made this year on the parade route, specifically the location to begin. The parade will start on Greenville Street below Salbide Street and follow Greenville Street into downtown, left onto North Court Square, right onto LaGrange Street and then continue to Newnan High School where it will disband.It’s “A Winter Wonderland” so bring on your magical snow!  The parade will include floats, walking groups, decorated cars and trucks, and marching bands.
