John D. Spivey, 79, a longtime resident of Peachtree City, passed away on October 30, 2013.
John was the devoted husband of Ethel (Penny) Spivey for 46 years. He was the father of John Kirby Spivey and father-in-law of Jennifer M. Spivey. John was much loved and respected by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
John was born to the late Joseph H. and Lois Spivey in Tyler, Ala., and was the youngest of seven children. After earning a degree in Aviation Engineering from Auburn University, he worked for Boeing Aircraft before joining and eventually retiring from Delta Airlines in 1994.
John was a charter member of Peachtree City United Methodist Church, and served in many capacities, including the choir, the mens club, and as president of his Ad-Loy-Ho Sunday school class.
A memorial and reception will be held at Peachtree City United Methodist Church on Thursday, November 14 at 1 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the ASPCA or to the Peachtree City United Methodist Church.
