Two candidate forums have been scheduled to help the public sift through campaign issues ahead of the Nov. 5 municipal elections in Peachtree City and Tyrone.

The Rotary Club of Peachtree City will hold its traditional candidate forum Tuesday, Oct. 8 at the Peachtree Wyndham Conference Center at 6:30 p.m.

And a diverse group of political forces is joining together to host Peachtree City and Tyrone candidates Saturday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. at the Fayette County Library in Fayetteville.

That forum is co-sponsored by the Fayette County branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Fayette County Democratic Committee, the Fayette County Republican Party and the Fayette County Local Issues Tea Party. In addition to giving candidates a way to “openly express their views,” the event also will include a straw poll.

The Rotary forum Oct. 8 will have Peachtree City Council candidates introduced and grilled between 6:30 and 7:45 p.m. The five mayor candidates will be introduced and questioned between 7:50 and 9 p.m.

The Rotary format features questions asked by the audience presented by a panel of Rotarians. Only issue-related questions will be accepted for consideration.
