Panthers win invitational

Starr’s Mill hosted the second annual Nike Panther Invitational at Heritage Church over the weekend. The Lady Panthers took home the girls team title against 19 other teams, as Hailey Gollnick (19:08) finished third overall. Emily Sims (20:22) was 11th, Sophie Handel (20:29) was 16th, Sarah Phinney (20:58) was 24th and Tori Nails (21:19) was 35th. The boys team came in first behind top-15 finishes from James Adams (16:14), Joshua Warren (16:28) and Ryan Phillips (16:44).

Landmark took the top two spots in the girls race, with Kathryn Foreman (18:12) running away from the field and finishing nearly a full minute ahead of teammate Nicole Fegans (19:00). But no other Lady War Eagle finished in the top 50, and the team placed eighth. The boys came in 11th with Spencer Geerlings (16:24) the eighth runner to cross the finish line.

McIntosh came in fourth among girls teams at Starr’s Mill, led by Rachel Ward (20:10) who was eighth overall. Alyssa LeClaire (20:46) cracked the top 20. The boys finished in second place and Joshua Mattingly (16:08) was fourth overall. Taylor Huntley (16:32), Reynolds Joshua (17:17) and Andrew Jaeger (17:35) all placed in the top 30.

Whitewater saw its girls team come in sixth at the Panther meet. Individually, Alexis Smith (20:20) was tenth and Alana Hood (21:02) was 26th. The boys were fourth, and John Raville (26:06) had the best finish of any Fayette runner. Parker Nail (16:54), Seamus Murrock (17:06) and Alex Burcar (17:17) were among the top 25.
Fayette County came in 22nd on the boys side. Their top runner was Max Anderson (18:40).
Sandy Creek ran in the Coach Benson Double Dip Invitational hosted by Marist. The boys finished 17th out of 28 teams, with Connor Dial (18:36) the team’s top runner, followed by Devin Hamill (19:00) and Dominick Chontos (19:42). The girls came in 20th out of 24 teams, led by Lauren Apo (23:10), Hannah Hancock (24:05) and Alexis Willis (25:17).
