Coweta County commissioners on Thursday got a look at the proposed 2014 general fund budget that totals $62.3 million. The vote on the budget will come at the Sept. 17 meeting.

Commissioners are considering the 2014 general fund budget with revenues totaling $62,341,885. That figure represents an increase of approximately $2.5 million over the current budget period that ends Sept. 30.

The expected increase in revenue is a result of the new legislatively-imposed ad valorem tax methodology on vehicles purchases where 6.5 percent of the cost of the vehicle is added as a one-time tag expense.

Once approved by commissioners on Sept. 17, the 2014 general fund budget is expected to have a projected fund balance of $28-29 million.
