Robert “Bob” Joseph Caldwell, 70, of Fayetteville passed away August 22, 2013.
He served in the United States Air Force and then attended Purdue University for aircraft mechanics. He joined Delta Airlines in September of 1970 and retired after 35 years of service. Mr. Caldwell was a founding and active member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Fayetteville. He faithfully served in the Knights of Columbus and St. Vincent De Paul Food Ministry.
He was preceded in death by his son Sean Robert Caldwell and his parents Ernest & Jean Caldwell.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years Theresa Caldwell; daughter Andrea Caldwell of Fayetteville; son Keith Caldwell of Fayetteville; brother-in-law Gordon M. Lodde of Kentucky; nephew Tony Lodde of Lancaster, Pa.; and niece of Melissa Cox of Knoxville, Tenn.
A funeral mass was held Monday, August 26, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, Fayetteville. Mr. Caldwell lied in state from 10:30 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Father Michael McWhorter, Father John Koziol, and Father Paul Berny officiated. The burial followed at Westminster Memorial Gardens, Peachtree City. The family received friends Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home with a Rosary service that followed in the Chapel.
