UPDATED FOR PRINT — A Peachtree City man has been arrested for robbing three local convenience stores over the past several days.

Clayton Wallace Thomas, 26, of 217 Valley View, was arrested Wednesday night at a residence in Senoia with help from Senoia police, officials said.

Peachtree City police are also crediting the public with providing information leading to a major break in the case following the distribution of photos from the two robberies in the city Saturday and Sunday.

Thomas is charged with three counts of armed robbery for the June 29 incident at the Flash Foods on Crosstown Drive, the June 30 incident at the Pit Stop on Petrol Point and Ga. Highway 54 and the June 3 incident at the Flash Foods on Hwy. 54 and Gingercake Road in Fayetteville, police said.

The arrest was timely considering police had received information that Thomas was planning on leaving the state, officials said.

“The department would like to thank the public for all the tips that led to the capture of the subject,” Lt. Mark Brown wrote in a press release issued Thursday morning.

The crime spree Thomas is accused of began June 29 when clad in a motorcycle helmet, an assailant entered the Flash Foods in south Peachtree City and demanded money from the clerk before leaving the area on a motorcycle. The next night, a similar-looking person wearing a red and white ballcap conducted a similar operation on the clerk before leaving the area on foot, police said.

Then on June 3, another person described with characteristics similar to the first two incidents, hit the Flash Foods in Fayetteville, also demanding money from the clerk before getting away, police said.

Police were able to interview several witnesses who were in the store when the June 29 incident occurred, and surveillance footage was also pulled from the cameras at both Peachtree City locations.
