The S.A.G.E. group (Senior Adults Going Everywhere) at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church will visit the Wren’s Nest in Atlanta’s historic West End on July 16. This Queen Anne Victorian home was the home of Uncle Remus stories creator, Joel Chandler Harris, from 1881 to 1908. The entire outing is expected to last from 9:30 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The tour will include entertainment by a storyteller relating some of the Uncle Remus tales and an old-fashioned Southern lunch at the Q Time restaurant.
Grandchildren and great-grandchildren entering first grade and older are welcome to join the group. The cost is $10 for seniors and $8 for children, plus lunch.Those planning to attend should register and pay at the church office by Wednesday, July 10.
The next outing will be on Aug. 14 and will be a Southern Hollywood film tour around Fayette county.
