Mr. Lawrence Eugene Hurst, 77, of Peachtree City passed away June 29, 2013.

He was preceded in death by his parents, E.W. and Genora Hurst, brother, Carl and is survived by his wife of 50 years, Florence Furlow Hurst of Peachtree City; sons, Jim Hurst and his wife, Laura of Fayetteville; Larry Hurst and his wife, Alex of Peachtree City; daughters, Lisa Schad of Mentone, Ala.; Kathryn Hynson and her husband, Marty of Peachtree City; grandchildren, Chris Jennings, Cole and Ryan Hurst, Gene, Abby, Jackie, Rebekah, Carl, Katy and Haley Hynson; great grandchild, Logan Jennings.

Lawrence was born in Hapeville, Ga., attended South Fulton High School and graduated from Southwest High School in Atlanta.

He belonged to the Atlanta Ironworkers Union #387 for 28 years. The Richard B. Russell building, parts of the Atlanta Zoo, Chick-fil-A headquarters and many other buildings around Atlanta were built by his strong arms.

Lawrence was a deacon at First Baptist Church of Cliftondale and was affectionately called “Pa Pa” by the children of Cliftondale Day Care.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 1, 2013 at 4 p.m. at the Chapel of Parrott Funeral Home. Interment was held at Westminster Memorial Gardens. Those wishing may sign our online guest book at www.parrottfuneralhome.com.
