Mr. Blake Nicholas Dever, age 23, of Peachtree City, Ga., passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013.

He was born February 22, 1990 in Atlanta, Ga.

He was a graduate of Starr’s Mill High School and was currently attending the University of West Georgia.

SPC Blake Dever, USA INF proudly served his loving family, community and this Great Nation with a heart of selfless service as a Combat Infantryman (11B) in the United States Army while serving a tour of duty in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. During his faithful service Blake was decorated with the Combat Infantryman Badge, the Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal w/Campaign Star. Blake was a natural leader and one that was respected by always placing others before himself and one that was well respected by his Rifle Team.

Blake was devoted to his family and friends and was considered a loyal man, a true brother and hero to all he served. He was a loving brother, son, and family member and was the first born grandchild on both sides of his family. At an early age Blake came to know the Lord and was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Peachtree City. Blake enjoyed most all outdoor sports with his family and friends and excelled in football. He was a talented designer and writer with an artistic side that had an eye for creativity and detail. Blake was limitless with his many talents.

He is survived by his parents, Stanley H. Dever and Amanda B. Dever; sister, Brittany N. Dever; paternal grandparents, Stanley M. Dever (deceased), Allen A. Blackstock, Angelyn Blackstock; maternal grandparents, Charles W. Barnett (deceased), Bettye Barnett; and one surviving paternal great-grandparent, Mary C. Fouts; several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

Blake was cremated and his memorial service will be Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at 12 noon in the Rosehaven Chapel with Rev. Warren Huddleston officiating.
