It was a close call for a north Fayette County woman when a man attempted to rob her at gunpoint, then fled as another man approached.

Fayette County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Josh Shelton said the incident occurred Saturday at approximately 8:50 a.m. on Hillcrest Avenue in the Landmark Mobile Home Park.

Shelton said the man, whose face was covered, pointed the gun at her and demanded money, her wallet and cell phone. The victim told the man she did not have any of those items with her, said Shelton.

The woman said she saw another man walking along the street in her direction, turned to look in his direction and the man with the gun ran away.

The robber is a thinly-built black male approximately 5-feet, 10-inches tall who was carrying a handgun.
