Five homes on Brittany Chase in Fayetteville were targeted during the late night hours Jan. 13, with homeowners and police searching the neighborhood finding the screens on the back porches cut but with no entries evident.
Fayetteville Police Det. Mike Whitlow said five homes on Brittany Chase off North Jeff Davis Drive had screens cut during the late night hours on Jan. 13. Whitlow said there is a likelihood that the responsible parties were children since only the screens were cut and there was no entry into the homes.
One homeowner said she saw a flashlight shining near her back patio but thought it was a neighbor walking a dog.
Police arrived after the initial report of a screen being cut and, during a search of other residences, found a total of five damaged screened doors, Whitlow said.
Whitlow said the incidents are being treated as cases of criminal trespass since no items were stolen from the five homes.
