Lois Thurman Wyrick of Sharpsburg passed away Nov. 24, 2012 at the age of 88.

Lois was born in Pahuska, Okla. on April 10, 1924 to Charles and Frances Thurman.While growing up during the Great Depression, her family moved often in the Oklahoma/Missouri area as her father worked hard to support the family.

In 1944, when she was nineteen, she met Ed Wyrick and they have been married for 68 years. Ed is a retired Eastern Airlines pilot who was based in New York, New Orleans, Miami, and Atlanta. Ed and Lois moved to Newnan, Ga. in 1966, where they were active in the First United Methodist Church of Newnan along with many other community organizations. In 1983, Ed and Lois moved to the farm on Fischer Road in the Sharpsburg area. They were charter members of Cornerstone United Methodist Church, now located at Thomas Crossroads between Peachtree City and Newnan.

Lois had an enormous impact on people throughout her life as a teacher, writer, speaker, and someone with a willingness to listen and support people of all ages and from all walks in life. When those people were in trouble, they found their way to her door and she always welcomed them with a hug and unlimited support.

Lois is survived by her husband, Ed Wyrick, her children Beth Respess (Mike), Cathy Miller (John), Eddie Wyrick (Pat James), and Charles Wyrick (Lee);

Lois was preceded in death by her grandson Jonathan (Mike and Beth).

Surviving grandchildren are Laura Farmer and Sarah Kovacik; Missy and Eric Polly; Heather, Kalli, and Mariah James-Wyrick; Julianne, Caroline, and Rad Wyrick. She is also survived by seven great grandchildren as well as her brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Peggy Thurman of Wilmore Ky. Her extended family also included her dear friends that she loved as family, David and JoAn Kinrade and their daughters Emily Carnes and Rachel Kinrade.

A celebration of her life was held Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 2956 Highway 154, Newnan, Ga.
