Mr. Leslie John Sanders, of Fayetteville, formerly of East Point and Riverdale, passed away on Oct. 20, 2012 at the age of 89.

Leslie was a proud veteran who served his country in the United States Army in WWII and in Korea. Following his military career he had a long career with General Motors where he worked in the Parts Division.

Leslie was a great provider, and even from his hospice bed, he was offering direction to provide for those that he loved. He was a strong, honorable, family man who was proud of his family. He loved his family deeply and always had special ways of showing it.

Next to his Lord, there was no greater love in his life, than his wife of 63 years, Nancy H. Sanders. Along with Mrs. Sanders, he is survived by his daughters, Patricia (Jim) Dutton of Fayetteville and Leslie (Gary) Lamb of Bellingham, Wash.; granddaughters Heather (Shane) Roye of Fayetteville, Cynthia (Frank) Seale of McDonough, Deana Fecteau of Wash., Cindy (Jim) Hawthorn of Douglasville, Cathy (Stuart) Ledford of Douglasville; grandson Billy (Elizabeth) Ray of Newnan; 12 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Fayetteville Christian Church. Minister Andrew Higle officiated. Interment followed at Sherwood Memorial Park.

The family received friends on Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville.
