Deadline for Greek pastries orders is Nov. 2
The annual holiday Greek Pastry Sale for Philoptochos (Friends of the Poor) of St. Christopher Hellenic Orthodox Church is now taking place. Pastries include Spanakopita (buttery filo triangles of spinach, feta, cream cheese, eggs and onions), Tiropita (buttery filo triangles of feta, cream cheese, eggs, and onions) and desserts: baklava, kourambiedes, koulouria and melamakarona. Liberty Baptist’s revival starts Oct. 21
Liberty Baptist Church, 1077 Hwy. 314, Fayetteville, will hold revival services beginning Sunday, Oct. 21  through Wednesday, Oct. 24.  Services will be led by Evangelist Don Ledbetter.  Sunday Morning service will begin at 10:45 a.m. and nightly services at 7 p.m.  For more information, visit www.lbcfayette.org.

NHBC plans fall festival, car show Oct. 27
National Heights Baptist Church will host its Fall Festival and Car Show, Saturday, Oct. 27, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the church. The event features an antique car show, Trunk or Treat, bounce house, games, crafts, food and fun for the whole family. Bethany plans Trunk-R-Treat
Bethany United Methodist Church will have Trunk-R-Treat Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 5-6:30 p.m. Bethany is at Milam-Rivers Rd. at its intersection with Lee’s Lake Road in north Fayette County.

Brooks UMC will offer ballroom dancing
Beginning this month, Brooks United Methodist Church will host ballroom dancing classes on Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. The classes are  $35 per person per month. Brooks UMC is located at 119 Morgan Mill Road,  on the Ga. Highway 85 Connector, three miles south of Starr’s Mill. For more information call the church office, 770-719-7593.

Bethany’s annual Perlieu stew coming up
Bethany United Methodist Church will have its annual Perlieu Stew sale Saturday, Nov. 3, from noon until 5 p.m. (or until the stew is sold out). Adult plates are $8 and children’s plates are $5. Pints of stew are $6 and quarts are $10. Making the stew dates back to the early 1900s when the men of the church went hunting and brought back wild game. Today chicken is used instead of game but the stew is still made in large iron cauldrons. Bethany is at 607 Rivers Rd. (where Milam changes to Rivers and crosses Lees’ Lake Road)in north Fayette County.

Brooks thrift shop will be open on Thursdays
The Second Chance Thrift Shop in Brooks  started opening on Thursdays, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m., beginning earlier this month.  The annual clearance sale will be Friday and Saturday, Nov. 16 and 17, at Brooks United Methodist Church. The Second Chance Thrift Shop is in Brooks just past the post office.

Festival of the Trees set for Nov. 17
Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Peachtree City invites the community to attend “Celebrating a Season of Joy at the Festival of the Trees” on Saturday Nov. 17, at 6 p.m. at the Wyndham Peachtree Conference Center. The evening will feature dancing, live entertainment, heavy hors d’oeuvres and a silent and live auction with proceeds benefiting the ministries of Holy Trinity. Tickets are $20 per person. Summit offers free tutoring
The Family Resource Center at The Summit Presbyterian Church offers free tutoring for elementary and high school students. Classes meet on Wednesdays, one from 4-5 p.m. and another from 5-6 p.m. Help is offered in math, reading, homework, science, and language arts. Tutors are supervised by certified teachers. Real Life Center needs donations
The Real Life Center, which operates a food pantry, has a continuous need for food/pantry items. Donations can be dropped off at the Real Life Center, 382 Senoia Rd., Tyrone, Monday through Thursday from  9 a.m. – noon, and Thursday evenings from 5-7 p.m.  The center is sponsored and supported by several churches in the area. Prayer group meets at Summit
A community prayer group meets at The Summit Family Resource Center, 1373 Ga. Highway 92 S. Fayetteville, from 9:30-10:15 a.m. on Thursday mornings.  This is an inter-denominational event. Everyone is invited. Call 770-460-3335 for more information.
