Mr. John Tyler Rigby, of Fayetteville, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Oct. 5, 2012, at the age of 22.
Tyler was a quiet man, who was a free spirit and walked to the beat of his own drummer. He was an accomplished martial artist, who held a second degree black belt. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time in God’s creation kayaking.
He was a member of the Inman United Methodist Church, where he took part in numerous service mission trips. He most recently had been attending First Baptist Church of Jonesboro. He was a supporter of the Special Olympics and volunteered working as a chaperone for their activities.
Tyler was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Ralph Wofford.
He is survived by his parents, John and Patty Rigby of Fayetteville; brother Trenton Rigby of Fayetteville; grandmothers Fay Wofford of Inman, Jean Rigby of Hampton; grandfather James Rigby of Kentucky; aunts Linda Rigby, Beth Rigby, Penny Wofford, Pam Wofford Hessenbruch and Uncle Craig Hessenbruch; and other extended family, and friends.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012 at 11 a.m. at the Carl J. Mowell and Son Funeral Home, Fayetteville. Reverend Ray Camp and Reverend Jared Evans officiated. Interment followed in Greenwood Cemetery. The family received friends on Monday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
