J. R. Dalton, age 93, passed away on Monday, October 1, 2012.

Mr. Dalton , a retired pilot for Delta Airlines, was born March 15, 1919 in Toledo, Ohio and was a long time resident of East Point and Peachtree City, Ga. His commercial flying career extended from civilian flight instructor on C.P.T., Army Air Corps Primary Flight School, to Delta Airlines Captain on Douglas DC-3 to Boeing 747 equipment for 30 years. He was also a member of the Airline Pilots Association, Delta Golden Wings and The Delta Pioneers.

Mr. Dalton is preceded in death by his wife, Frances Hood Dalton; daughters, Carolyn Craig Lolley Joyner Robbins and Elizabeth Dalton Conn and son-in-laws, Stanley Lewis and Grady Jack Conn.

Those left to cherish his memory include wife, Nancy Cheek Dalton; son, James Robert Dalton Jr.; daughter, Judy Dalton Lewis; stepdaughters, Amelia, Betsy and Cathy; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Services honoring Mr. Dalton’s life was held on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Carmichael-Hemperley Funeral Home with Minister Clay Jacobs officiating. The family received friends on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 from 5-8 p.m. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park, GA.
