Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will offer its International Festival with outdoor family worship, a picnic lunch, and Olympic-style games beginning at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 30 at its new 33-acre site at 411 Palmetto Road.
Services at the church on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 8:30 a.m. are unaffected.
Music will begin at 10 a.m., with worship at 10:30. All the events will be influenced by other cultures. Music during worship will come from several countries; it will be led by the church’s GraceFlock Band.
Bratwurst, hot dogs and water will be available ($3 person/$10 family), but each family is encouraged to bring a covered dish to share which reflects their heritage. Games will be age-appropriate. COS’s Oompah Band will perform during lunch.
In the event of rain, all special events will take place at the church’s main campus, 101 Peachtree Parkway North.
On Monday, Oct. 1, the public is invited to the church’s annual Holy Hilarity Service at 7 p.m.
From its earliest days the Church has acknowledged the therapeutic value of laughter, and this service is planned to be light-hearted and merry. It is one of the church’s bimonthly services of prayer and encouragement.
The Christ Our Shepherd Flute Choir will provide music, some of it making use of Boomwhackers (colorful tuned tubes).
