Voncile Rabb Perkins, a good and faithful servant of our Lord Jesus Christ, was called home to be with Him on September 4, 2012 in a manner that befitted the way she lived; with grace, peace, and a sweet smile.

She was a native of Claiborne, Ala., and resided in Mobile, Ala., for 47 years. She moved to Metro Atlanta, Ga. fifteen years ago to live with her children.

On October 11, 1930 God blessed the union of Alfred Rabb, Sr. and Carrie Bell Davis Rabb with a daughter, Voncile, who was the eleventh child of thirteen. She attended school in the Monroe County School System, Monroe County, Ala., Shiloh Elementary School, Mt. Gillard Junior High School, graduated in 1946 from Perdue Hill Industrial High School.

Voncile confessed Christ as her Savior at an early age and joined Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, Frisco City, Ala. Upon marriage to the late Willie Milton Perkins, she united with Saint Louis Street Missionary Baptist Church. While living in Fayetteville, Ga., she attended Olivet Church of Christ.

Her work experiences include Avon Sales, Unity Insurance Sales, Cogburn Nursing Center, and Home Health Care until her illness, April 1991. She enjoyed writing letters. Wrote former President and Mrs. Bill Clinton and President and Mrs. Barack Obama and received replies.

Voncile is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers: Blanchard (BC) Rabb, Alfred (Bud) Rabb, Jr. and Lawrence Rabb; eight sisters: Bydia Rabb, Anna Maud Rabb Hetherington, Reader Rabb Montgomery, twins Ethelean Rabb and Evelene Rabb Jones, Carrie Bell Rabb Bunn, Susierene(Susie) Rabb Greenwood, and Hattie Beatrice Rabb Dickinson.

She leaves to forever cherish her loving memories, two sons: Harold Milton (Delores) Perkins, Sr., Kenneth Anthony Perkins, and grandson she raised Harold Milton Perkins, Jr. all of Mobile, Ala.; five daughters: Patricia Ann (Kenneth) Franklin, Brenda Jeannetta (James) Sweat both of Fayetteville, Ga., Sharon Jean (Steve) Smith, College Park, Ga., Alesia Denise (Leroy) Davis, Mobile, Ala., and Lillie Von Perkins, Stockbridge, Ga.; nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; sister, Lillie Bell Rabb Williams, Mobile, Ala.; host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends; long – time devoted friend, Mamie Washington Butler, Mobile, Ala.

Mrs. Perkins Homegoing Celebration will be held Thursday, September 13 at Saint Louis Street Missionary Baptist Church, 108 N. Dearborn Street, Mobile, Ala. Viewing hour 10-11 a.m. and service 11 a.m. with Interment immediately following at Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens, Theodore, Ala. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Lovett’s Funeral Home, 404 Martin L.
