Bernard Glenn Deakin, 66, of Fayetteville, passed away on July 22, 2012, following a long illness.

He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was born November 12, 1945, in Canton Ill., and grew up near Hanna City, Ill. He met his wife Barbara as a high school freshman in English class, and they were married on July 14, 1963, a month after they graduated from high school. They celebrated 49 years of marriage. He was blessed with a wonderful family.

He is survived by Barbara; son Douglas (Georgia) of Douglasville, Ga.; son Brian (Sherry) of Conyers, Ga.; and five grandchildren – Will, Jack and Luke of Douglasville, Ga. and Matt and Tyler of Conyers, Ga. He is also survived by his brother George (Barb) Deakin of Tucson, Ariz. and his sister Debbie (Dan) Good of Chillicothe, Ill., and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Bernard and his mother Violet (Paul) Deakin and one nephew.

He spent 40 years in sales and marketing with various companies such as ITT Continental Baking / Hostess Cakes, Kroger and Flowers. After retirement, he did taxes for H & R Block in Douglasville for 5 years. He was a volunteer with the Fayette County Senior Services at the Life Enrichment Center. He was a long time minister of Stephen Ministries and a member of Peachtree City United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 28, at 11 a.m. at Peachtree City United Methodist Church.
