Pedal for Pets, a non-profit charity, will be having its second annual bicycle ride from Senoia to Savannah June 7-9. The ride will start at the Maguire’s Family and Friends Restaurant parking lot in Senoia at 8:30 a.m. on June 7 and will end mid-afternoon on June 9 in historic Savannah.

Peal for Pets raises much needed funds for spay/neuter services for low and no-income areas.

Pedal for Pets organizer Wendy Maguire said the focus is to interface with and bring information, education and availability into these neighborhoods thus preventing hundreds of animals being born into eventual abandonment.

“So, we ride again only this time the ride or ‘tour’ is open to the public. This year we are working in conjunction with restaurants and hotels along the way who believe in the cause and want to see the same efforts duplicated in their communities,” Maguire said. “The program and our approach, through the efforts of Jane Reed at the Georgia Heartland Humane Society, have been so successful that many other shelters and animal advocacy groups want to duplicate our efforts, not only in surrounding communities, but in other states.”

Over nine million animals are euthanized each year. That is 11 animals killed every 10 seconds. Pedal for Pets is helping more communities end this countries silent epidemic through education and funding.

We are seeing positive changes with marked results with 560 dogs and cats spayed or neutered in 11 months.
