Thirty-four-year-old Decatur resident Malcom Renell Reed is facing charges in Fayetteville stemming from a 2010 case of child molestation involving his two children. Reed was processed in Fayette County recently after sitting in the DeKalb County Jail since late 2010 on similar charges.
Reed was charged in Fayetteville with child molestation and aggravated sexual battery, according to Fayetteville Police spokesman Steve Crawshaw.
Crawshaw said 2010 incident here involved the molestation by Reed of his two children while in Fayetteville where their mother resided at the time. The molestation involved mostly fondling, Crawshaw added. Warrants for Reed were taken here in late 2010.
Meantime, Reed was arrested in DeKalb County in late 2010 on molestation charges involving one or more of his children and has been in the DeKalb County Jail since that time. Reed last week was processed in Fayette County and returned to DeKalb County where he is awaiting prosecution.
The Dept. of Family and Children’s Services while investigating the DeKalb County case learned of the charges in Fayetteville and contacted police here, Crawshaw said.
