Starr’s Mill takes home three state titles in Georgia Forensics tournament

The Starr’s Mill High School Debate Team competed against thirty-three teams at the 2012 Georgia Forensics Coaches Novice and JV State tournament on February 3-4 at Gainesville State College.

The team brought home three state championships.

Valerie Harrison is Georgia’s JV Extemporaneous Speaking Champion. Brent Huang is Georgia’s JV Lincoln Douglas Debate Champion, and Megan LaCorre is the Novice Lincoln Douglas Champion.

The team won several additional awards. Valerie Harrison took 3rd place in Impromptu Speaking. Lexi Nails is a Novice Lincoln Douglas semi-finalist. Jake Martin is a Novice Lincoln Douglas quarter-finalist. Annefloor deGroot and Taylor Schweer are Novice Public Forum quarter-finalists. Daniel Temple, Mallory Hu, Taylor Schweer and Annefloor deGroot all received Public Forum Speaker awards.

The team is coached by Brandon Kendall and Sean Hickey.
