Young adults elected to council at COS
Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Peachtree City elected two young adults to serve on the Congregational Council at its annual meeting Jan. 29. Clint Barbour and Megan Kunig were elected to three-year terms, along with Keenen Anderson and Karen Guerrero. Current president Jon Scheumann was re-elected to fill an unexpired term.

LDS church to host Valentine dance Friday
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Peachtree City will host a free Adult Valentine Dance, Friday, Feb. 10, from 7-10 p.m. at the church, corner of Ga. Highway 54 and Peachtree Parkway. All adults in the community are invited.

COS middle-schoolers to go spelunking
Two dozen middle-schoolers from Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church, along with their adult sponsors, will spend Saturday and Sunday morning camping in a cave at Cumberland Caverns, McMinnville, Tenn. They will walk, crawl, and slither through tunnels to see an underground stream and thousand-year-old stalagmites. Melissa Jacobson, director of middle school and families ministries, will lead discussions and devotional thoughts with the group.

Marriage seminar planned at COS
Christ Our Shepherd Lutheran Church will offer a free seminar, “Making Marriage Work,” on Feb. 12,from  2-5 p.m. at the church. Hosted by Pastors Fritz Wiese and Miriam Beecher, the seminar will incorporate multi-media materials entitled “I Love You More” by Drs. Les and Leslie Parrot.  Child care is available upon advance registration. Call 770-487-8717 to register.

‘Purity day’planned at Fayetteville CoC
Fayetteville Church of Christ is holding a “Purity Day” event for girls of all ages. The event entitled “Purer in Heart” will be held on Feb. 18.  Guest speaker will be Hannah Colley, author of “Gifts: Girls in Fellowship and Team Study.” Fayetteville Church of Christ is  at 870 Redwine Rd., Fayetteville.  Lunch will be provided after the event. Word of God Lutheran sets Lenten events
Word of God Lutheran Church in Peachtree City  will hold its Ash Wednesday service on Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. with imposition of ashes and Holy  Communion.  Wednesday mid-week Lenten services will be held at 7 p.m. on Feb. 29, March 7, March 14, March 21, and March 28.  Word of God meets at 303 Kelly Dr., Suite 10, Peachtree City.  Larry Lystig is the interim pastor. Summit offers free tutoring
The Family Resource Center at The Summit Presbyterian Church offers free tutoring for elementary and high school students. Classes meet on Wednesdays, one from 4-5 p.m. and another from 5-6 p.m. Help is offered in math, reading, homework, science, and language arts. Tutors are supervised by certified teachers. Real Life Center needs donations
