Arrests but no fatalities in Coweta T’giving traffic

Thanksgiving is always a time for travel and visiting friends and relatives. And it is the time that some drivers should pay a bit more attention to the roadway. A tally of activities during the holiday period by the Coweta County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Unit showed a total of 23 arrests and 82 citations issued.

First and foremost, there were no fatalities on Coweta County roads during the holiday period. But there were a number of arrests made and larger number of citations and warnings issued.

And the holiday period also included several traffic accidents, of which 3 were injury accidents.

Information supplied by the sheriff’s office showed 36 speeding cases, 6 DUI charges, 7 citations for suspended license, 10 for driving without a license, 1 seatbelt violation, 1 drug case, 1 attempting to elude, 2 citations for no tag, 6 for driving with an expired tag and 12 miscellaneous traffic citations.

The various violations resulted in 23 arrests. Also noted in the report were 38 verbal warnings, 4 warrants served and 4 written warnings.

There were more than half a dozen road checks conducted during the holiday period, reports said.
