Mayor: Imker falsely claims credit for these

Eric Imker is repeating false claims:

1. “Identified budget problems and proposed solutions.” Began 2008. He proposed huge cuts to employee and staff pay, pensions, etc. on top of the cuts done in 2009. A no-tax pledge became a 1.25 mill tax increase in 2010.

2. “No new tax increases in 2012.” Reelection is why, followed by three tax increases 2013 through 2015.

3. “Led council to consolidate and pay off three unfavorable loans.” Our city manager and financial officer led. Pay-offs tracked for years.

4. “Changed our investment policy that enables more revenue.” A legal gamble. You cannot bind a future council.

5. “Created our new budget policy.” Non-binding and he has already violated it.

6. “Initiated the restructuring [of] employee benefits program.” Done last council.

7. “Proposed the Facilities Authority.” City attorney found it, staff examined it and Sturbaum and I were told before Imker ever heard of it.

8. “Not spend $850,000 to widen path over Lake Peachtree.” Only the study was voted on, which passed, and the total project was a lot less than $850,000.

9. “Sounded the alarm about our Water and Sewer Authority doubling rates.” I assigned him as WASA liaison. Emailed us AFTER the vote was taken. City is not taking over WASA for legal and financial reasons. He failed us here.

10. “Led enhanced code enforcement for multiple, repeat violators.” That work began last council.

11. “Claimed credit for hiring Nancy Price at the Fred.” Done in 2008.
