Overeager servers spoil dining

I have noticed over the past few months when we have gone to the restaurants the waiters and waitresses are overly eager to remove plates and anything from the table while people are sitting at the table.

A few weeks ago I had three plates in front of me and I would get food from each one. The waitress noticed the plate not directly in front of me and snatched it up.

I said, “Can you wait until we leave the restaurant to clean the table, we are not finished yet?”

This trend is common around many restaurants in Fayetteville and Peachtree City. I understand the waiters and waitresses want to clean the tables, but it kind of takes away from the dining experience when you have to watch every dish and cup like a hawk so it doesn’t get snatched up before you are finished with it.

Managers at the restaurants around town need to constantly remind waiters and waitresses to always ask before removing things from the table.

I understand these employees are working for tips, so they want you to see them working hard. But managers need to remind employees of a little hint to figure out if people are done with the plates to see if a napkin is on the plate.

That is a sign the guests are done with that plate. I have worked at a restaurant before and I learned this little trick, so I wouldn’t need to interrupt guests who are having discussions at the table every 10 seconds.
