Several churches in the Fayette area will hold special services to bless animals of parishioners and members of the community during the next couple of weeks.
Most require that animals be kept confined either on a leash or in a carrier and that they be accompanied by an adult.
The Episcopal Church of the Nativity will hold its annual blessing of the animals and pet fair from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1
The event will be held at The Gazebo in downtown Fayetteville across the street from the old Fayette County Courthouse. The Rev. Rita Henault, rector of the church, will conduct animal blessings at noon, 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m.
All are invited to bring their pets. Animals should be on a leash, hand-carried or in a carrier.
Other activities that will be set up in the vicinity are pet contests, a mini-petting zoo, food booths, pony rides, face painting, balloons, pet demonstrations, pet adoptions, and a raffle.
