Bernard Berl “B.B.” Morrison, 91, of Fayetteville, GA, passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2011 of heart failure.

Mr. Morrison was born November 15, 1919 in Linton, IN, the son of the late Berl McKinley Morrison and Jenny Lynn.

In December 1941, he quit work at Bethlehem Steel in Baltimore to enlist in the Army Air Corps. He was a WWII veteran of the 10th Fighter Squadron, 9th Air Force with service in Zephyrhills, FL, England, France, and Germany. He was very proud of his service in the Normandy Invasion and the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, he worked at Dallas Aviation School and for American Airlines at Love Field, but in October 1948 moved his family to Georgia to start as a mechanic for Delta Air Lines. His 36 years at Delta also included technical services, engineering, and supervisor of ground training. He retired as Systems Director of Building Maintenance in 1985.

Mr. Morrison loved gardening, fishing, traveling, photography and working on anything mechanical. He was a charter member of Kenwood Christian Church in Fayetteville which is now Christ Church at Whitewater.

B.B. was preceded in death by his first wife, Sue Marie Hyatt Morrison, and second wife, Laverne Kohr Morrison, brother Robert Morrison, sisters Leta Potochnik, Margaret Carr, Millie Mac Dowell, and Betty Jo Sell.

He is survived by a son, B.B. “Bernie” Morrison, Jr. (and Jan) of Locust Grove, GA; daughter Alice Morrison Carpenter, Stockbridge, GA; stepson Randy (and Lisa) Hunt of Fayetteville; stepdaughters Cindy (and Mike) Moriarity of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Suzette (and Richard) Schmidt of Glen Ellyn, IL; brothers, Harold Morrison, Linton, IN, John (and Beverly) Morrison, Brentwood, TN, Larry (and Nancy) Morrison, O’Fallon, IL; sisters, Helen Earlywine Wright of Terre Haute, IN, and Mary Borden of Indianapolis, IN; grandchildren Matthew McKinley (and Lydia) Morrison of Erie, CO, Benjamin Reeves Morrison of Little St. Simons Island, GA and Amanda (and Eddie) Tavares of McDonough, GA; step-grandchildren Rob Lowenstein, Wendy Williams, Melissa (and Mike) Zoller, Tim Moriarity; great-grandchildren Chase, Bradley and Lilly Tavares and Feagan, Haley and Madison Hunt; nephews Bill “Doc” (and Sonya) Hyatt of Oveido, FL and Phil (and Lynn) Hyatt of Stockbridge, GA and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A funeral service will be held, Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 4:00 PM in the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville with Rev. Paul Carrier and Rev. Paul Leslie officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service between 2:00 and 4:00 PM at the funeral home. The burial will follow at a later date in Fairview Cemetery in Linton, IN. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to Fayette Senior Services, 4 Center Drive, Fayetteville, GA 30214.
