Although it is one of the most patriotic small towns in America, Peachtree City did not win the title of “The Most Patriotic Small Town” in the country.
Instead, the title went to Rapid City, South Dakota as part of the Rand McNally Best Small Towns in America competition.
Peachtree City was one of six finalists in the “Most Patriotic” category, which resulted in a couple traveling through to review the city, along with five others as part of a cross-country tour.
The reviewers, Chris Staudinger and Tawny Clark, lead an impromptu decorated golf cart parade at Drake Field June 28. Staudinger also got a trip above the city in the cockpit of a World War II era plane flown by the Dixie Wing of the Commemorative Air Force.
In blog posts, the “Captain and Clark” review team described Peachtree City as a “hidden gem.” They raved about the golf cart paths, and how everyone they passed would smile and wave “like we were neighbors or part of the family.”
The reviewers also noted how Peachtree City supports its veterans, and how Falcon Field has been a welcoming home site for soldiers who have been killed in action.
In addition, Captain and Clark had raves for the Baked Potato pizza at Partner’s Pizza and also for the barbecue offerings at Cafe Pig.
