Mr. Kenneth “Wayne” Robinson, 62, of Fayetteville, passed away on May 11, 2011.

Mr. Robinson was an educator who began his career at Jonesboro High and moved to Russell High School in Fulton County; he later moved to North Clayton High and then to Fayette County High where he was an assistant principal. He took over as the principal of Sandy Creek High when the school opened. He became the executive director of secondary schools before becoming the assistant superintendent. Later, he took a position at the state board of education.

Following his retirement, he became the director of fitness at Sun City Peachtree. He was an avid golfer and runner who enjoyed reading and always valued being with his family and friends.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Gay Kennedy Robinson; sons, Preston Robinson, Brett Robinson, all of Fayetteville; mother Marjorie Blount and mother-in-law Jean Kennedy both of Barnesville; brother Jim Robinson and his wife Kathy of Senoia; sister Janice Legge and her husband Jordan of Morrow; sister-in-law Tracy Kennedy; niece Nan Legge Kelly and her husband Ronnie of McDonough; nephews Andrew Robinson, Senoia, Brannon Robinson and his wife Becky of Brookhaven; great-niece Elliot Robinson and many close friends along with his loyal pets Zoe, Bolt, Stripes and Teddy.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Baptist Church of Barnesville, the Jack Russell Terrier Rescue Group (c/o Donna Durham – 2008 Bethel Rd. Conyers, GA 30012) and the Gordon College Alumni Association in Barnesville.

A graveside service was held on Sunday, May 15, 2011 at 3:00 PM at Greenwood Cemetery, Barnesville, GA with Garth Forster officiating. The family received friends on May 14 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at Mowell Funeral Home, Fayetteville.
