Arrests in four separate cases reported May 5 by the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office involved incidents pertaining to cruelty to children, burglary, attempting to influence a witness and identity fraud.

Sheriff’s spokesperson Brent Rowan said 43 year-old Peachtree City resident Richard Chris Munoz was arrested April 27 in connection with a cruelty to children case that had been reported on April 22. Munoz was charged with first degree cruelty to children, third degree cruelty to children and battery (family violence), said Rowan.

Rowan said the case involved Munoz physically assaulting his wife and juvenile daughter. The juvenile daughter was taken to Piedmont Fayette Hospital as a result of the minor injuries she received during this altercation and was later released to her mother, said Rowan.

Munoz is currently being held on these charges in the Fayette County Jail without bond, Rowan said.

In a case involving a burglary on Pine Knott Road during the late 2010 – early 2011 time frame, Rowan said investigators on May 3 arrested 32 year-old Griffin resident Donald James Anderson. Rowan said the case involved Anderson entering a residence on Pine Knott Road without authority and stealing several items from inside the home.

Investigators in this case were able to recover some of the property and restore it to the victim, Rowan said.

The case involving the attempt to influence a witness resulted from the actions made on April 19 by an inmate at the Fayette County Jail, 34 year-old Fayetteville resident Jason Harold Strickland, Rowan said.

Rowan said Strickland was charged after he attempted to convince a witness to provide corrupt testimony in his favor on a felony theft by taking case. Strickland at the time was in jail awaiting his trial on theft charges.

The final case involved identity fraud. Rowan said the charge against 21 year-old Alann’a Richardson, of College Park, stemmed from an identity fraud incident that occurred on March 31.

Rowan said the case involved Richardson fraudulently using a Fayette County citizen’s bank account information on a forged check and cashing it in the amount of $550. Richardson is currently in the DeKalb County Jail on unrelated charges, according to Rowan.
