Girl Scout Cadette Troop 19341 of Service Unit 618 is collecting travel size hygiene items to benefit Stand Up for Kids, a center that serves homeless teenagers in Metro Altanta. The Girl Scouts are collecting items such as travel size shampoo, conditioner, soap, combs, brushes, etc., to create toiletry packets. The packets will be given to Stand Up for Kids, which serves more than 300 kids ages 8-18. The center offers kids a safe place to shower, do laundry, perhaps get a meal, and connect with other kids.

The Girl Scout Troop offers several places to bring donations. If you have travel size hygiene items that you would like to donate, please bring them to the following locations:

• Peeples Elementary School, 153 Panther Path, Fayetteville, GA 30215 through April 15th

• Providence United Methodist Church, 592 Bernhard Rd., Fayetteville GA 30215 through April 30th

• The Catholic Church of St. Gabriel’s, 152 Antioch Rd, Fayetteville, GA 30215 through April 30th

• World Gym’s 3 area locations,1300 Commerce Drive, Peachtree City, GA 30269; 1964 Hwy 64 West, Fayetteville GA 30214; and 934 North Glynn Street Fayetteville, GA 30214 through April 30th

The girls in Girl Scout Troop 19341 are working towards their Silver Award, requiring more than 50 hours of community service. The Silver Award is the highest honor they can earn as Cadettes. Girl Scout Cadettes are open to girls in grades 6-8.

“We are hoping to collect enough items to make more than 500 packets,” said Liza Ruzicka, a Cadette in Troop 19341, “The kids at the center would really benefit from what is small to other people. We hope the Fayette County community will support our efforts.”
