Joyce Delores Entrekin Harris, 74, of Peachtree City, Georgia, became an angel on Sunday, April 10, 2011, after a courageous ten year battle with Ovarian Cancer.   The daughter of Margaret and Clifford Gartrell (C.G.) Entrekin, Jr., Joyce was born on November 7, 1936, in Carrollton, Georgia.  In 1955, Joyce graduated from Carrollton High School, where she was a varsity cheerleader. 

      Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret and C. G. Entrekin, Jr. and by her grandson, David Loyd Harris, Jr. 

      Joyce is survived by her husband of 55 years, Hollis L. Harris of Peachtree City, Georgia, her daughter, Patti Harris Ayers of Peachtree City, Georgia, and her two sons, David (wife Leigh Ann) Harris of Fayetteville, Georgia, and Jeff Harris of Smyrna, Georgia, her grandchildren, Rachel (husband Ben) Ragan of New Bern, North Carolina, Michael Harris of Washington D. C., Jackson Ayers and Mitchell Ayers of Peachtree City, Georgia and by her great grandson, Liam David Ragan of New Bern, North Carolina.  Joyce is also survived by her twin sister, Janice Griffin of Lakeland, Florida, her brother, Cleve (wife Kathy) Entrekin of Carrollton, Georgia, her brother-in-law John (wife Gaye) Harris of Peachtree City, Georgia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and many friends.  Joyce was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend and she will be  missed by all who knew and loved her.

      Joyce and Hollis moved to Peachtree City, Georgia in 1969, when there were less than 800 people living in the city at the time.  Joyce spent her life giving generously of her time and talents to her family, friends, her church and community.  She was a wonderful hostess and a fabulous cook and over the years she frequently entertained numerous groups, world dignitaries as well as family and friends at her lovely home.  She has published one cookbook and was working on her second cookbook listing many of her delicious recipes.

      She was an accomplished artist and for many years she has had an art scholarship in her name at The University of West Georgia College in Carrollton, Georgia.  Joyce has traveled the world with her husband Hollis during his airline career that spanned over fifty years.  She has served on the Board for numerous community organizations including The David L. Harris Jr. Foundation, Inc., the ECCA, and the Fayette Battered Women’s Shelter (now known as The Promise Place), as well as volunteering her time and talents for over forty years for community groups in Fayette County and for her church, First Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City where she and her family have been members since 1969.

       Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 13, 2011, at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City, Georgia.  A visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2011, from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Mowell Funeral Home, 200 Robinson Road, Peachtree City, Georgia.
