College life is full of exciting, new, life changing experiences that will never be forgotten and Fayette County High School Select Chorus is putting it to music in their 34th Annual Variety Show, “Road Trip.”

The forty-one juniors and seniors under the direction of Richard Prouty are currently rehearsing every day of the week to put together this year’s “Everything Music” production. Of course, the students rehearse during class, but that hour every day would never be enough rehearsal for the kind of excellence and fun for which these dedicated singers strive. In the midst of hectic academic lives, the members of Select find enough time to be at morning dance workshops, evening rehearsals, and afternoon committee meetings for props, costumes, publicity, and ticket sales.

“Road Trip” presents hopeful senior graduates traveling together to some of America’s finest universities as they learn life’s hard lessons. Beginning in the south, the audience will be shown the tight, competitive edge among Dawg and Tech fans singing “Anything You Can Do.” New relationships will begin as the group travels to “Rocky Top” Tennessee and then continue camping in “Dixieland Delight” Alabama. Another scene displays the elegant library of Harvard, as students find out it’s not all about being “Popular”. The final scene shows all the students remembering home with “Georgia On My Mind” and ending with all the colleges being represented in “Who Says You Can’t Go Home”.

This year’s must-see variety show will take place April 14-16 at 7:30 pm and on April 17 at 3 pm at the FA Sams Auditorium. Tickets are $5 dollars for students, $8 for adults, and $10 at the door. For advance ticket purchases or further information, contact Richard Prouty at 770-460-3540 ext. 128. Get ready for an unforgettable journey where new friendships are made and old ones are never forgotten and join the Fayette County Select Chorus for Everything Music 2010: “Road Trip.”
