Hwy. 34 resurfacing contract awarded

A seven-mile road resurfacing project for portions of Ga. Highway 34 in Newnan and east Coweta County was announced Monday by the Georgia Dept. of Transportation (DOT). At nearly $5 million, the project was one of 31 approved at a total cost of $57 million.

The Hwy. 34 project will extend from Jackson Street in Newnan to east of Ga. Highway 154 in the Thomas Crossroads area.

The 6.99-mile project low bid for $4,879,800 was awarded to Marietta-based C.W. Matthews Contracting Co, Inc.

The project will include milling, inlay, plant mix resurfacing and single surface paving treatment. The completion date was set for Nov. 30.
