Path Rules – Pedestrians on the left or right?
Last week we listed several reminders for path safety (audible signal, leashes required for dogs, etc.), which generated questions about where pedestrians should walk – right or left? The legal answer is either because Peachtree City’s ordinance does not specify. However, walking to the left is recommended, especially for those who may use headphones or on the busier paths to ensure pedestrians can see carts and cyclists approaching. No matter which side you walk on, please remain alert to the other path users coming from both directions so everyone stays safe.

Safety Reminders from the Police Department
Two incidents this past week have prompted the PTC Police Department to issue safety reminders to residents:

Suspicious Activity: On March 5, a man approached several juveniles playing in their neighborhood and asked if he could take their pictures. Several mothers approached the man, who quickly left. The Police have identified a suspect, but the incident reminds us remain alert to what is going on in our neighborhoods and to report any suspicious activity to the Police by calling 9-1-1 immediately.

Car Break-ins: Over the weekend, several cars in Planterra Ridge were entered and had items stolen, including a purse and a GPS unit. All vehicles entered had been left unlocked. Citizens are reminded to lock vehicles and secure property to help prevent becoming a victim of this type of crime.

If anyone has information that would assist the PTC Police Department in these incidents, please contact the Criminal Investigations Division at 770-631-2510, or the Crime and Narcotics Information Hotline at 770-487-6010. You may remain anonymous.

Fire Hydrant Clearing, Cleaning, Repainting
Beginning this week, members of the Peachtree City Fire Department will be pressure washing fire hydrants throughout Peachtree City in preparation for repainting. The hydrants will then be painted with a reflective silver body. Hydrant caps will be color-coded to indicate the water pressure at each location. This project will continue into April.

Reminder: Fire hydrants are located in the City-owned right-of-way. No landscaping should be placed between the hydrant and the street, within 10 feet of either side of the hydrant, or within three feet behind the hydrant.

Project Updates:

Path Connection to K-MART closed for reconstruction – Path #803 behind K-Mart at Braelinn Village Shopping Center is still under construction and will be closed when crews are working. Path users can still access the shopping center via other connections behind the center.

Path #1148 from Peachtree Parkway/Bridlepath to J.C.Booth Middle School is under reconstruction but is open for traffic before and after school. The path will be closed when crews are working during school hours.
